I love writing lyrics in the rain...

The sun has fallen beneath the trees

Veiled in tears, I fall on my knees

What splendor as this have I ever seen?

Who could have created such a scene?

With a break, the dawn appears

And my mind is rid of all its fears

The clouds can try to hide the sky

While so impossible, I yearn to fly

Shadows and storms break the calm

Powerless in terror, controlled by His palm

What power on earth can hope to compete?

My only solace is to bow at His feet

We lift the curtain, raise our voice

In the face of His glory, there is just one choice

The universe is just a toy in His hands

His praise be sung across all the lands

Veiled in tears, I fall on my knees

What splendor as this have I ever seen?

Veiled in tears, I fall on my knees

What splendor as this have I ever seen?

What splendor as this have I ever seen?

Come to think of it, I like writing lyrics anytime or anywhere. When it's raining it just seems more natural for some reason. Anyways....

  3. Yes.. I love the rain.
Right now I prefer it for some reason.
I'm normally a sun person. But I don't know. It seems more peaceful when it rains.

  5. Very nice, Mark. You definitely have a gift for lyric writing. Yep, when it's raining is pretty much the only time i can write lyrics - that or at 3 am =P I'd love to hear your song sometime dude - in fact i'd love to see if we could cowrite some things sometime if you'd want to. Ya there's just a special way you feel when it's dreary and raining... it's almost... Pensive? i'm not sure...

  6. Pensive is in fact the perfect word for it, Nathan.

Haha you all could be my lyric critics. I've written a lot of songs, but not all of them are obvious "praise" songs like this one...

  7. I just double-posted on my own blog :)

Nathan, if you have any lyrics ideas, or incomplete songs, or complete songs you want critiqued, or whatever, send them by me, and we can work it out. I've got tons of lyrics that I have put in the "scrap pile" that we could work to revive if you want.

  8. Excellent lyrics. I know what y'all are talking about... when I'm most tired, I write the best lyrics. Or, at least, they seem to be the best lyrics at that moment. =P

And just a random question... were the tears in the song meant to mean literal tears or rain?

  9. I write best at like 1 in the morning when I'm exhausted, lol.

  10. I was thinking literal tears, as in being overwhelmed by the beauty of a sunset, but whatever works for you best when you interpret it is fine.

  11. Just A suggestion but i think it sounds amazing if you take the first line out of context - "The sun has fallen beneath the trees veiled in tears" The tears being rain... i don't know, it just sounds very poetic and deep to me. haha

  12. Haha that's exactly what I mean, whatever works best for you when you interpret the lyrics.
